The Abomination and the Hulk have clashed on numerous occasions, with Blonsky perpetually playing the role of aggressor. Blonsky occasionally gains the upper hand in their battles, but the Hulk always triumphs in the end. Over time, this has driven Blonsky nearly insane in his hatred for Banner. The Abomination grew further incensed uponlearning Banner had married Betty Ross, the daughter of General 'Thunderbolt' Ross. Blonsky had lost his wife, so it seemed only fair to him that Banner should be forced to part with Betty. While she was recovering from radiation sickness caused by exposure to the gamma radiation within Banner, Blonsky fatally poisoned her. The Abomination's grand plan failed, however, when Banner forgave Blonsky. The Abomination could not comprehend or endure his enemy's absolution, and his moment of triumph was twisted into crushing defeat. Blonsky realized he had become what he hated: he, not the Hulk, was the rampaging, inhuman monster.
