Kish Kash
Basement Jaxx: Simon Ratcliffe, Felix Buxton. Additional personnel: Dizzee Rascal, Siouxsie Sioux, Me'Shell NdegeOcello, JC Chasez, Lisa Kekaula (vocals). Recorded at Jaxx Studio, London, England between March 2002 & July 2003. Any album that features both boy-band vet JC Chasez and goth-punk icon Siouxsie Sioux calls for a double take, and once Basement Jaxx have your attention, they pull you into the non-stop house party of KISH KASH. On their third album, the UK duo of Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton joins the ranks of the Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim by including a remarkable roster of high-profile guest artists that extends to soul/funk diva Me'Shell NdegeOcello and up-and-coming British rapper Dizzee Rascal. KISH KASH opens with the energetic "Good Luck," which presents the buoyant, Motown-influenced vocals of Lisa Kekaula against a loopy backdrop of distorted synthesizer and a full string section. Other standout tracks include the two Prince-inspired numbers that feature NdegeOcello ("Right Here's the Spot" and "Feels Like Home") and cockney lyricist Dizzee Rascal's delirious Eastern-inflected contribution. The true highlight, however, is the driving, fuzz-bass-fueled title track, which features Siouxsie Sioux's unmistakable vocals over the surging sonic assault. A fun, clever, and always unpredictable outing, KISH KASH is house music for people who don't think they like house music. SKU: 1087763

Hello Nasty
The Beastie Boys: MCA, Mike D, Adrock. Additional personnel includes: Miho Hatori, Brooke Williams, Biz Markie, Jill Cunniff, Lee "Scratch" Perry (vocals); Brian Wright (violin, viola); Jane Scarpantoni (cello); Steve Slagle (flute); Paul Vercesi (alto saxophone); Nelson Keane Carse (trombone); Mark Nishita (keyboards); Joe Locke (vibraphone); Eric Bobo, Richard "Sammy's Dad" Siegler, Duduka (percussion); Robert Perlman (drum programming); Mix Master Mike (DJ). HELLO NASTY won the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance. "Intergalactic" won the 1999 Grammy for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group. On their fifth album and first proclamation in four years, the Beasties pledge allegiance to the next millennium while rocking out old-school stylee. Instead of pretentiously haphazard schizophrenia, Adrock, Mike D and MCA mold Run DMC boasts, Lee Perry dub freestyles, and introspective acoustic strumming into the best album-cum-mix-tape of the first half of '98. NASTY is the true successor to their sampledelic fantasia PAUL'S BOUTIQUE, as realized by craftsmen looking to do more than just get crazy with the sonic cheese whiz. "Super Disco Breakin'," "Body Movin'," etc. are all first-rate party jams that the trio can probably come up with in their sleep. It's when the Beasties look towards the new school that the artistic flipping of the script begins. Not just in the lyrics, which are expansively conscious in nature and politically literate in content, but sonically as well. The jr. drum-and-bass of "Flowin' Prose" and MCA's acoustic singer/songwriter turn on "I Don't Know" point in directions at once completely incompatible and positively natural. Justlike their mate Beck, it is the diversity of styles that the Beasties are prophesizing as the key to the future--so long as that diversity's in the shadow of the old school. SKU: 1000591

R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta/Parental Advisory) [PA]
Personnel include: Snoop Dogg (rap vocals); 50 Cent, Justin Timberlake, Lil Jon, Nelly, Pharrell, Soopafly, The Bee Gees, Trina, Bootsy Collins, Charlie Wilson . Producers: The Alchemist; The Neptunes; Warryn "Baby Dubb" Campbell; Soopafly; L.T. Hutton. Following upone of his strongest records to date, Snoop Dogg returned in 2004 with an album he audaciously labeled a "masterpiece." Indeed, the rapper's seventh record finds the Long Beach, California native firing on all cylinders, with his usual slow-and-steady delivery freely flowing over tracks of all varieties. Easily Snoop's most diverse album, R&G slips from solidly street-oriented tracks to purely fun tunes, with moments both sensual and silly that add up to what's almost a concept record. Snoop has always been a master of squaring a mellow melody with his hardcore edge, but he reaches new heights on R&G, particularly on the Neptunes-assisted single "Drop It Like It's Hot" and the incredible early-1980s disco-soul sound of "Let's Get Blown." Snoop also reminds listeners just how hard he can hit on tracks like the relentless, chaotic "The Bidness" and the sinister 50 Cent duet "Oh No." If there were ever any questions about Snoop's stature as a premier statesman of rap, R&G effortlessly lays them to rest. Between The Buttons [SACD] [Remastered]
The CD includesoriginal drawings by Charlie Watts from the LP release. The Rolling Stones: Keith Richards (vocals, guitar); Mick Jagger (vocals); Brian Jones (guitar); Bill Wyman (bass); Charlie Watts (drums). Recorded in 1966. Once known as hard-core blues/R&B traditionalists, the Stones plunged deeper into the waters of original songwriting on BETWEEN THE BUTTONS, leading to a golden age of classic albums including LET IT BLEED, BEGGAR'S BANQUET, and EXILE ON MAIN STREET. In addition to scoring a double-sided smash-hit single in "Let's Spend The Night Together" backed with the baroque-pop "Ruby Tuesday," BUTTONS was also the last album produced by then-manager/svengali Andrew Loog Oldham. More importantly, the obscure songs on this tight package show the Stones coming into their own as composers. Between the ornate orchestrations of the aforementioned "Ruby Tuesday" and Mick Jagger's Dylanesque inflections on "She Smiled Sweetly," BUTTONS found the Stones in a strata far beyond covering Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly. Although none of these developments ranks with the Beatles' contemporaneous sonic experiments, the fabs' bad-boy counterparts showed differing degrees of whimsy and sass. Examples are Ian Stewart's barrelhouse piano and Brian Jones' kazoo playing on "Cool, Calm & Collected," or the Dixieland-flavored "Something Happened To Me Yesterday." SKU: 1076731

Doubt
Producers: Mike Edwards, Andy Ross, Martyn Phillips. Engineers: Clive Goddard, Martyn Phillips. Principally recorded in London, England in May 1990. Following their debut album, Jesus Jones released a pair of singles in 1990, "Right Here, Right Now" and "Real, Real, Real," which lifted them into the realm of superstardom, in the United States anyway. At home in England, they were grouped in with the so-called "grebo" movement--scruffy young men playing speedy pop songs shot through with humor and adolescent ennui--which consisted of bands like the Wonder Stuff, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, and Pop Will Eat Itself, all of which had devout followings throughout Europe. With "Right Here, Right Now," Jesus Jones securedtheir place in pop history, albeit as one-hit wonders. This is a shame, though, as DOUBT, the band's second album, is full of good tracks, among them "International Bright Young Thing," where a hyped-up, shuffling beat gives structure to peals of guitar shrapnel. "Welcome Back Victoria" is a strange, moody track built on a vaguely Eagles-like acoustic guitar line, and sinister, swirling metallic samples, while "Are You Satisfied?" in perfecting the band's "throw it in the blender" approach of their first album, is easily DOUBT's best track. Also of note is "Stripped," a grueling industrial dance workout that substantially improves on Nine Inch Nails' early work. SKU: 1072840

Songbook
Personnel: Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks (vocals); Larry Byrom, Mark Casstevens (acoustic guitar); Steve Gibson, Chris Leuzinger (electric guitar); Paul Franklin (lap steel guitar); Bruce Bouton (steel guitar); The Nashville String Machine (strings); Jim Horn (saxophone); Steve Nathan, Matt Rollings, Bobby Wood (keyboards); Mike Chapman, Michael Rhodes (bass); Paul Leim, Milton Sledge (drums); Judson Spence, Carie McDowell, Harry Stinson, Raul Malo, Lari White, Chuck Cannon, Garth Fundis, Don Henley, Kim Richey (background vocals). Producers: Tony Brown, Trisha Yearwood, Garth Fundis, Harry Stinson. Engineers: Jeff Balding, Mark Miller. Includes liner notes by James Hunter. All tracks have been digitally remastered using HDCD technology. "How Do I Live" was nominated for 1998 Grammy for Song Of The Year and won the Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. "In Another's Eyes" won the 1998 Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals and was nominated for Best Country Song. SONGBOOK combines 10 hits from the first part of Yearwood's career (through 1995's THINKIN' ABOUT YOU) with a soundtrack cut ("How Do I Live," from "Con Air") and a new duet with Garth Brooks ("In Another's Eyes"). The album makes a case for Yearwood as one of the finest country singers of the'90s. Yearwood's painfully real portraits of lovers on the ropes are rigorously absent of the standard Nashville tricks. There are no cookie-cutter melodies, no needless swings into honky-tonk nostalgia, no superfluous steel guitars, no emotional resolutions achieved in two perfect verses--just stuff that's real. In "Like We Never Had A Broken Heart" (another duet with Brooks, from her debut album), she tries to patch up a failing affair with a good night of sex, advising her partner, "Pretend I'm someone that you love." The heroine of "XXX's and OOO's" wakes up to this casually brutal world: "Phone rings/Baby cries/TV diet guru lies." Yearwood sings with a matter-of-fact emotion that acknowledges the struggles and the sadness (and occasional bliss) without ever overdoing it. She trusts these songs, and the degree to which she doesn't cry all over them suggests a confidence in the material that's increasingly rare in Nashville. SKU: 1000579

Try matching Grammy award winning composer Mark Mancina ("Speed," "Con Air," "Twister" and the 1998 remake of "Return To Paradise") and multiple Grammy winner, singer-songwriter Phil Collins for the job. For good measure, add to the CD an exclusive version of one of the more upbeat numbers (the Billy Joel influenced "Trashin' The Camp") which features the platinum vocal group 'N Sync, and you pretty much can't miss. Collins' tunes are melodically lush and delivered with his trademark yearning tenor. Due to his other profession (drumming), one can always count on his songs to have compelling rhythmic drive as well. Marcina's score moves effortlessly through cinematic changes in rich, real (not overly synthesized) orchestrations, which also feature a good deal of percussion. His skillful hand turns the moods of the set pieces from tender to exciting, to heroic and back again. SKU: 1071538

Cocky
Personnel includes: Kid Rock (vocals, guitar, bass); Sheryl Crow (vocals, 12-string acoustic guitar, bass); Jimmie Bones (vocals, harmoncia, organ, keyboards); Snoop Dogg, Uncle Kracker, Misty Love, Shirley Hayden, (vocals); Jason Krause, Kenny Olson (guitar); Matt O'Brien (bass); Stefanie Eulinberg (drums). Recorded at Clarkston Chophouse Studios, Detroit, Michigan. Kid Rock's unique blend of Midwestern rock & roll, rap, and R&B gets another airing with COCKY, which features a plethora of road tunes, who's-the-baddest cuts, and straight-ahead drinking songs. The slow, greasy grooves of "You Never Met a Motherf**cker Quite Like Me" contrast violently with the Detroit Rock City raunch of "I'm a Dog," which itself stands in stark contrast to the first half of "Midnight Train to Memphis," an atypical, steel guitar-accompanied ballad. You don't come to Kid Rock for subtlety (the last cut, WCSR, featuring Snoop Dogg, is proof of that). He's a Midwestern rapper who wishes he was in Lynyrd Skynrd--and who could probably make a pretty good job of it. The straight-ahead rock tunes swing mightily courtesy of drummer Stefanie Eulinberg, and Rock has his bad-ass rap act down cold here, though how much longer he can keep it up is another question for another time. Almost Famous
Personnel includes:Lumidee (vocals); Busta Rhymes, Fabolous, DJ Tedsmooth, Handsome Joe, N.O.R.E. (vocals). 19-year-old R&B chanteuse Lumidee, pronounced "loomy d," received very sudden attention with her summer 2003 jam "Never Leave You." At first, the hit may seem ultimately gimmicky, but further listening finds something original going on beneath the hooky exterior. The track begins with tribal beats delayed by a breathy, faltering, echoing vocal, hauntingly off-beat and otherworldly in the manner of those early House crossover hits from the mid-to-late-'80s. The rest of Lumidee's self-titled debut consists of serviceable, affable R&B made unique by the singer's halting, off-kilter, refreshingly unpredictable vocals, best showcased on a brief half-rapped, half-sung "Suppose To Do," a take on the "Theme From Mahogany." Lumidee utilizes her child-like voice to disconcerting effect on "Me & You" while summoning up her inner hardcore rapper on "My Last Thug." Busta Rhymes and Fabolous drop by, providing perfect foils for each other on the remix of "Never Leave You." SKU: 1085663

Let It Be Me (Live At Vine Street)
Personnel: Nina Simone (vocals, piano); Arthur Adams (guitar, electric bass); Cornell McFadden (drums). Producers: David Kreisberg, Miriam Cutler, Ron Berinstein. Engineers: David Kriesberg, Nick Dofflemeyer. Recorded live at the Vine St. Bar & Grill, Hollywood, California. Having crooned--and sometimes growled--her way through jazz, blues, folk, and even show tunes, Nina Simone remains one of popular music's most versatile and eccentric vocal talents. LET IT BE ME features Simone on piano along with occasional vocal accompaniment by unnamed singers. In addition to her vast vocal talents, Simone has also written dozens of excellent songs. However, here she interprets a wide variety of contemporary material. Her versions of Randy Newman's "Baltimore," Bob Dylan's "Just Like a Woman," and Janis Ian's "Stars" are all excellent, as is her take on the haunting, African-esque "Be My Husband." Also featured on LET IT BE ME are terrific versions of her self-penned "Mississippi Goddam,""Four Women," and "If You Pray Right (Heaven Belongs to You)." SKU: 6535742

Fly Or Die
'Fly Or Die' is the second studio album from the LA supergroup N.E.R.D. Following on from 2002's 'In Search Of', this release is a progression from their debut which the band claimed to never be a finished work. Here the band mix up hip-hop, modern pop, rock and Motown with touches of disco and R&B. The band's day job - as the production team The Neptunes - is clearly displayed. Their work with such a rangeof artists as Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes and Britney Spears has clearly influenced the band's direction. SKU: 6554719

No Cities Left
While the Dears are not a textbook goth band, this Canadian collective's second release, NO CITIES LEFT, burns with the despondent, desperate melodrama implied by the tag. The opener, "We Can Have It," blazes with angst as singer Murray A. Lightburn half-weeps "You never said I'd see you again." Lightburn's velvety lilt unabashedly channels Morrissey, though duets with singer Natalia Yanchak recall the tongue-in-cheek duels between Calvin Johnson and Amelia Fletcher of Heavenly. Cabaret horns and chamber strings characterize the sultry soap opera "Expect the Worst/'Cos She's a Tourist" and the Muzak funk of "Never Destroy Us." The Dears' brand of brooding manifests in extended pop symphonies that update the sounds of Pulp and the Smiths, and their Britpop/cabaret hybrid does bring to mind a stylish scene of black tattered suits swaying to the rhythm of a Las Vegas production number. Last Train To Lhasa
Banco De Gaia includes: Toby Marks. This is the sound of the techno-tribe, banging a drum with one hand and a mouse with the other. Toby Marks, AKA Banco de Gaia, doesn't want to work;he just wants to bang on the drum all day. Thankfully, he makes a pretty joyous noise-a full-bodied amalgam of the Orb, Loop Guru, and Transglobal Underground. Using an army of ethnic and indigenous samples (from Indian drums and chants to woodblocks, rainsticks, and Oriental shakers) and zapping them through the technological prism, Banco de Gaia creates a modern-day techno-folk music that calls up the shaman buried deep in our ancestral memory. Of course, Marks' idea of the shaman is the contemporary electronic-music producer or the DJ. The barmy rhythms pouncing about here work at home and on the disco-floor, but their most appropriate setting would be a dancehall in Uganda. Marks' natives whip up the digital atmosphere with incendiary frenzy. From the chugging locomotive techno of "Last Train to Lhasa"' to the pan-cultural rhythmic stew of "Kincajou" and the burbling Orient-meets-the-Orb synthesizer textures of "887," LAST TRAIN TO LHASA is an intoxicating descent into primitive ritual madness. Personnel includes: Machito (leader); Mario Bauza (arranger, alto saxophone, trumpet); Rene Hernandez, A.K. Salim (arranger); Cannonball Adderley (alto saxophone); Ray Santos, Jr., Jose Madera (tenor saxophone); Leslie Johnakins (baritone saxophone); Joe Newman, Doc Cheatham, Francis Williams, Paul Cohen, Paquito Davilla, Joe Livramento (trumpet); Santo Russo, Eddie Bert, Bart Varsalona, Jimmy Russo (trombone); Rene Hernandez (piano); Roberto Rodriguez (bass); Jose Mangual (bongos); Candido Camero, Carlos "Patato" Valdes (congas); Uba Nieto (timbales); Pedro Boulong, Jose Silva, Nilo Siera (percussion). Producer: Ralph Seijo. Reissue producer: Michael Cuscuna. Recorded at Metropolitan Studios, New York, New York on December 17, 19 &24, 1957. Includes original liner notes by Roger Dangerfield. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Bandleader extraordinaire Machito was born in Cuba, and the "original Mambo King" utilized that country's indigenous rhythms throughout his career. As its title implies, though, this 1957 release finds Machito turning an ear towards the African side of the Afro-Cuban jazz style he helped to pioneer. The energy level on KENYA is astounding, and there's virtually no letup. Under the direction of Machito and his brother-in-law/right-hand man Mario Bauza, the ensemble tears through a dozen cuts with such disciplined ferocity it's a wonder anyone was left standing at the end of the session. The electrifying big-band arrangements are typified by tight structures, forcefully executed ensemble lines, and of course, a percolating bed of percussion that keeps the groove constant no matter how sophisticated the harmonic intercourse becomes. The tunes, mostly composed specifically for this project, are all based around traditional Afro-Cuban rhythms, and their diversity represents the variety to be found in those fertile sonic fields. From rhumba to bata to mambo, the rhythmic drive is invigorating. The contributions of non-Latin jazzmen such as Doc Cheatham (who worked with Machito for some time) and Cannonball Adderley only adds to the mix in this piping-hot musical stew. SKU: 1028759

Monkees, The
The Monkees: Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, Michael Nesmith (vocals); Peter Tork (guitar). Additional personnel includes: Tommy Boyce (vocals, guitar); Bobby Hart (vocals, autoharp, organ, glockenspiel); Wayne Erwin, Gerry McGee, Louie Shelton, Al Casey, James Helms, Don Peake, Michael Deasy (guitar); Jimmy Bryant (fiddle); Bonnie Douglas, Paul Shure (violin); Myra Kestenbaum (viola); Fred Seykora, Joseph Ditullio (cello); Bob Cooper (oboe); Keith Allison (harmonica); Jack Keller (piano); Larry Knechtel (organ); Michael Rubini (harpsichord); Larry Taylor, William Pitman, Bob West (bass); Billy Lewis, Frank DeVito, Jim Gordon (drums). Producers: Tommy Boyce, Bobby Hart, Jack Keller, Michael Nesmith. Reissue producers: Andrew Sandoval, Bill Inglot. Recorded at RCA Victor Studios and Western Recorders, Hollywood, California between June 25 and July 25, 1966. Originally released on Colgems (101). Includes liner notes by Andrew Sandoval. Created to perform roles in a television series, the Monkees weregreeted with scepticism by certain sections of the rock fraternity. The quartet may not have played the instruments on their debut album, but this does not diminish the appeal of its content. Excellent songs by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart formed its core, while contributions by Carole King, David Gates and group member Mike Nesmith ensure that the quality remains consistently high. Mickey Dolenz possesses the ideal pop voice and the enthusiasm generated on each performance is completely captivating. The Monkees' grasp of teen angst and melodrama is sure and, now divorced from contemporary travails, this album stands as one of the era's most entertaining debuts. SKU: 1002058

Business As Usual
Men At Work: Colin Hay (vocals, guitar); Ron Strykert (guitar, background vocals); Greg Ham (flute, saxophone, keyboards, background vocals); John Rees (bass, background vocals); Jerry Speiser (drums, background vocals). Producers: PeterMcIan, Colin Hay, Greg Ham. Includes liner notes by David Wild. This Australian combo's 1982 debut was an instant worldwide smash, mostly due to the undeniably catchy pop songcraft of singer/songwriter Colin Hay. Of course, it didn't hurt that with the group's reggae undertones and Hay's yelping tenor, they bore a superficial resemblance to early-'80s pop gods The Police, but BUSINESS AS USUAL is far from derivative. A gift for the hook was Men At Work's most powerful weapon, from the impossibly catchy sax riff on the paranoid pop tune "Who Can It Be Now" to the staccato flute line marking the chorus of the reggae-ish "Down Under." "Down By the Sea"'s atmospheric poignancy proves there's another level of depth to the band's work, and the driving "Underground" adds a unique socio-political edge to the proceedings. SKU: 1000901

Genius Of Coleman Hawkins, The [Remastered]
THE GENIUS OF COLEMAN HAWKINS contains previously unreleased bonus tracks. Personnel: Coleman Hawkins (tenor saxophone); Oscar Peterson (piano); Herb Ellis (guitar); Ray Brown (bass); Alvin Stoller (drums). Producer: Norman Granz. Reissue producers: Michael Lang, Ben Young. Recorded at Capitol Studios, Hollywood, California on October 16, 1957. Includes liner notes by Alun Morgan and Nat Hentoff. Digitally remastered using 20-bit technology by Chris Herles (Polygram Studios). This is part of the Verve Master Edition series. Though Coleman Hawkins is considered the father of jazz tenor saxophone, he was also a curiously contemporary figure who always sounded fresh despite the heavy vibrato and archaic 1-2 downbeat. Hawkins played with the be-boppers, recorded with Thelonious Monk, composed small unaccompanied tone poems such as "Picasso." Perhaps this sterling session with Oscar Peterson's Trio isn't so avant garde, yet it's still a bold portrait of the artist as animprovising heavyweight in his prime. In 1957, Hawkins's masterly phrasing, rich tonal palette and forceful expression of ideas could meet the brilliant Sonny Rollins of SAXOPHONE COLOSSUS on quite similar musical terrain and even come out ahead. How To Ruin Everything
Face To Face: Trever Keith (vocals, guitar); Scott Shiflett (vocals, bass); Pete Parada (drums). Producers: Trever Keith, Scott Shiflett, Chad Blinman. Recorded at Audio International, Ojai, California. This California punk combo has been around since the early '90s, doing time on the punk circuit opening for the likes of Offspring and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. It's a testament to their persistence and energy that HOW TO RUIN EVERYTHING, their ninth full-length, is also their best. It kicks off as it means to go on, with the quick-acting, Clash-sounding "Bill of Goods" and the crowd-pleasing "The Take-Away" followed by the tom-tom propelled, betrayal-themed "A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing." There's a freshness and easy energy to Face To Face's songs that belies their length of service to punk ideals, and it's to their credit that they communicate this energy again and again over this 15-song set. The title track is the album's only nod to acoustic textures, with vocalist Trevor Keith sounding likea cross between Paul Weller and Billy Bragg, in an obvious acknowledgement of the band's Anglophile roots. In its energy and heartfelt lyrics, HOW TO RUIN EVERYTHING is almost a layman's guide to the best of 21st-century US punk rock. SKU: 1071300

Hysteria
Def Leppard: Joe Elliott (vocals); Steve Clark, Phil Collen (guitar); Rick Savage (bass); Rick Allen (drums). Additional personnel: The Bankrupt Brothers (background vocals). Recorded at Wisseloord Studios, Hilversum, Holland; Windmill Lane Studio 2, Dublin, Ireland; Studio Des Dames, Paris, France. Four years after PYROMANIA, Def Leppard were a comparative write-off. Dismissed by critics, seemingly dogged by bad luck, with drummer Rick Allen losing an arm in a car accident, HYSTERIA had to be an album to turn heads. In retrospect, it sounded like the first true hard rock record for the CD generation. Ambitious arrangements and remixes on songs such as "Rocket" and "Armaggedon It," a crisp single in "Animal," and a dense paean to love with"Love Bites," all bets were off. Def Leppard had created an intriguing language of ideas that still speaks volumes more than a decade on. SKU: 1006120

Recordedat Top Hat Studio, Austin, Texas from December 1997 to January 1998. Includes liner notes by John Swenson. The roots-rock Weird Al Yankovic returns with a typically bracing and funny collection of cow punk diatribes delivered with his trademark over-the-top bravado. This time out he makes it clear that he disapproves of masturbating in front of a computer ("I Don't Want No Cybersex"), demolishes various sacred cows ("Disney Is the Enemy," "Drunk Divorced Floozie [The Ballad of Diana Spencer]"), and even takes time for a little rock criticism in "Machines Ain't Music" ("Drum machines," he reminds us, "don't get drunk"). He also finds time to croon "The Ballad of Country Dick," which, the title double entendre notwithstanding, is actually a tender farewell to a kindred spirit, the late Beat Farmers singer Country Dick Manitoba. Pretty hilarious, and the cream of the jest is that his band, the Toadliquors, provides great raunchy backup a la the Stones. SKU: 1017447
