Cake And Pie
Personnel includes: Lisa Loeb (vocals, acoustic & elctric guitar, harmonica); Anne Previn (whistling, background vocals); Dweezil Zappa (acoustic & electric guitars); Randy Scruggs, Rusty Anderson (guitar); Michael Sherwood (piano); Jim Cox (keyboards); Leland Sklar (bass); Ronny Crawford (drums, percussion); Matt Chamberlain (drums); Steve Forman (percussion). Producers: Lisa Loeb, Peter Collins, Randy Scruggs, Dweezil Zappa. Engineers include: Michael C.Ross, Gary Burr, Dweezil Zappa. Millions will recall Lisa Loeb as the singer-songwriter with the Catwoman glasses whose hit "Stay" enlivened the mid-'90s film REALITY BITES. Those who've kept track of her subsequent career won't be surprised to find that her 2002 album CAKE AND PIE is full of songs with a spirit and sheen to equal that aforementioned radio staple. Spinning the wheel, Loeb co-wrote opening song "The Way It Really Is" with Alanis Morissette collaborator Glen Ballard, but Loeb's innate winsomeness keeps things from getting as angst-ridden as the Canadian pop queen. Loeb's own chiming acoustic guitar and little-girl voice are at the heart of the arrangements on CAKE AND PIE, but Jack Joseph Puig's full-bodied production provides just the right amount of rock muscle at the appropriate moments, helping Loeb to acheive the proper balance of folk-rock introspection and radio-ready, contemporary rock & roll. Space Ritual Vol.1 (Alive In London & Liverpool) [Remastered]
Hawkwind: Bob Calvert, Dave Brock (vocals, guitar); Nik Turner(saxophone, flute, background vocals); Lemmy (bass, background vocals); Simon King (drums), Del Dettmar (synthesizer); DikMik (programming). Recorded in London and Liverpool, England. Surely the ultimate "head" album, a double album (and CD) of gigantic, cosmic nonsense. Put Hawkwind, namely poet Bob Calvert, together with his USA equivalent Paul Kantner, and you have space rock nirvana, galactic eldorado and interplanetary mumbo jumbo of the highest order. If anybody cares to knock these lords of the cosmos just take note that they have charted in the UK with no less than, 23 albums. Pulsating science fiction has never been better translated or, as the sleeve note says, "we were born to go as far as we can fly, turn electric dreams into reality." They laugh all the way to the bank of Andromeda. SKU: 1064039

Mingus Three
Personnel: Charles Mingus (acoustic bass); Hampton Hawes (piano); Dannie Richmond (drums). Recorded in New York, New York on July 9, 1957. Includes liner notes by Nat Hentoff. With its absence of alternative takes (nothing blows the mood like hearing the same tune twice), this album still comes leaping out of the speakers decades later. Nat Hentoff, in the original liner notes, characterizes the tunes as dialogues between bassist/leader Mingus and pianist Hampton Hawes. We hear Mingus soloing at length on "Back Home Blues" and "I Can't Get Started," whereas "Hamp's New Blues" allows Hawes to let loose with his bop chops, the flipside to the exemplary down-home sensibilities Mingus coaxes from him on the aforementioned "Back Home Blues." Long-time Mingus drummer Danny Richmond's fours on "Hamp's New Blues" have the force of an eruption, and his creative use of percussion leads into the unusual and compelling ostinato Mingus lays downfor the trio's version of "Summertime." On "Dizzy Moods," Mingus'interpretation of the changes to Dizzy Gillespie's "Woody 'n You," Hawes injects a healthy dose of the blues into the bebop chord progression while Richmond keeps things swinging hard at mid-tempo. Someone To Love
Ruff Endz: Davinch, Chi (vocals). Additional personnel includes: Memphis Bleek (rap vocals); Troy Taylor (various instruments). Producers include: Cory Rodney, Davinch, Troy Taylor, Cahrles Farrar, C. Cole. Engineers include: Rob Williams, Kevin "KC" Campbell, Herman Santiago. They came from Baltimore in the summer of 2000, buoyed by the single "No More." Two years later, Davinch and Chi, the R&B duo better known as Ruff Endz, works that angle again on SOMEONE TO LOVE YOU. That'snot to say that the group's sophomore effort is a LOVE CRIMES soundalike, merely that Ruff Endz are picking up where they left off the last time, carrying that sonic thread of subtly undulating beats, catchy synth hooks, and carefully crafted vocals, into another batch of tracks. Those who got on board this duo's soul train the last time need not disembark, and newcomers will find it a pleasant ride. SKU: 1071850

The Beatles: George Harrison (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, sitar, tamboura, harmonica, tambourine, comb & paper); John Lennon (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, piano, Hammond organ, maracas, comb & paper); Paul McCartney (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, piano, harpsichord, Hammond organ, bass, comb & paper); Ringo Starr (vocals, harmonica, piano, drums, bongos). Additional personnel includes: Neil Aspinall (tamboura, harmonica); Mal Evans (harmonica, alarm clock); George Martin (piano, harmonium, Wurlitzer organ, organ); Sounds Incorporated (saxophone, French horn, trombone). Engineers include: Geoff Emerick, Malcolm Addey, Ken Townsend. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios and Regent Sound Studio, London, England between December 6, 1966 and April 21, 1967. Includes liner notes by George Martin, Mark Lewisohn and Peter Blake. One of the most famous and influential albums ever recorded, SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND had a huge impact on the music world, signaling the beginning of a new era of sophistication and maturity in rock. The musical experimentation was dynamic and fresh, several tracks were edited to create seamless transitions, and even thevisual design was more elaborate than anything previously attempted. Producer George Martin and The Beatles searched for new sounds and studio effects. They added crowd sounds and animal cries from sound-effects recordings, sped up Paul McCartney's vocals in "When I'm Sixty-Four" (to make him sound younger), and sustained a single piano chord for 40 seconds to end "A Day In The Life." The orchestrations, scored by Martin, were hailed by critics as bridging the gap between pop and classical music, and many people who had never bought a rock record bought SGT. PEPPER'S. SKU: 1000394

Lust In Phaze (The Best Of Soul Coughing)
Soul Coughing includes: Mike Doughty (vocals, guitar); Mark De Gli Antoni (keyboards, samples); Sebastian Steinberg (upright bass); Yuval Gabay (drums). Additional personnel: Rachel Benbow Murdy (spoken vocals). Producers include: Tchad Blake, David Kahne, Steve Fisk, Soul Coughing. Compilation producers: Cole Cartwright, Tchad Blake, David Kahne. Engineers include: Tchad Blake, Bill Emmons, Tim Boland. Recorded at Sunset Sound Factory, Hollywood, California; Sear Sound, The Power Station, New York, New York; The Wurx Studios, Bath, England. Includes liner notes by Mike Doughty and John Strausbaugh. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Roundabout 1994, funk-jazz-popsters Soul Coughing emerged, seemingly borne of the pavement of the New York City streets with the enigmatic, engaging RUBY VROOM. The foursome led by charismatic poet-on-call M. Doughty released two other increasingly popular albums before calling it quits in 2000, amassing a considerable cult following in the process. Soul Coughing's otherworldly musical offerings, conceivably silly dance tracks for kids weaned on Coltrane and Kerouac, incorporate phone-sex recordings and old Warner Brothers cartoon riffs, could feature Shakespeare intermingled with glorious nonsense and are otherwise nonexistent in any musical world. Despite all this, they are undeniably pop and even somehow managed to connive a couple radio hits. LUST IN PHAZE is less your basic greatest hits album than a selection of songs the band considers the best presentation of its life's work; in fact, the single the title is culled from, "Soft Serve," is a noticable omission. The two minor hits, "Super Bon Bon" and "Circles" are here, alongwith sought-after non-album tracks such as "Buddha Rhubarb Butter" and "Unmarked Helicopters," a delirious live rendition of the best free jazz pop-culture shout-out-fest ever "Casiotone Nation," The Propellerheads oddly engaging revamp of "Super Bon Bon" and overlooked album tracks such as the zen-reflecting "The Idiot Kings." Life Is Killing Me (Limited Edition) [PA]
Type O Negative: Peter Steele (vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass); Josh Silver (keyboards, background vocals); Kenny Hickey (guitar, background vocals); Johnny Kelly (drums, background vocals). Additional personnel includes: Paul Bento (guitar, sitar, tambura); Pandit Kinnar K. Seen (tabla). Recorded at Systems Two, Brooklyn, New York. From the first, sludgy notes of the opening cut"Thir13teen," there's never a doubt that Type O Negative has kept the spirit of vintage Black Sabbath alive with their sixth album LIFE IS KILLING ME, even as Ozzy's been reduced to screaming televised profanities at his kids on MTV. Type O frontman Peter Steele continues to surprise and impress by taking the Sabbath influence and peppering it with various stylistic twists that find him turning a potentially stultifying genre like goth-metal inside out. Guests Paul Bento and Pandit Kinnar K. Seen contribute sitar and tabla respectively to the muscular "Less Than Zero," while Type O keyboardist Josh Silver injects the moody "(We Were) Electrocute" with the kind of synth lines that'll put smiles on nostalgic '80 goth fans everywhere. Any fears that this quartet of native New Yorkers has gone soft get dismissed amid the roiling riffage of the lumbering title cut, the Danzig-like "Nettie," and the equally despairing "Anesthesia." Going on their 14th year together, Type O Negative continues to blaze their own singular path in the worlds of heavy metal and hard rock. SKU: 1084298

Country Love Songs
Personnel: Robbie Fulks (vocals, guitar); Ora Jones (vocals); D. Clinton Thompson (electric guitar); Paul Carestia, Tom Brumley (pedal steel); Keith Bauman (lap steel); Tuey Connell (lap steel, banjo); Casey Driessen (fiddle); Steve Rosen (fiddle, background vocals); Joe Terry (piano, keyboards); Brett Simmons, Daren Wilcox, Lou Whitney (bass); Dan Massey, Bobby Lloyd Hicks (drums); The Skeletons (background vocals). On his debut album, Fulks keeps the spirit of cry-in-your-beer honky-tonk music alive. While he's musically conservative, employing traditional, mostly acoustic instrumentation and classic country song structures, his lyrical muse runs further afield. On "She Took A Lot Of Pills And Died," the mere title of which should earn him a spot in the Country Hall Of Fame, and "Let's Live Together," his sardonic humor adds a twist to the proceedings, but he never gets self-conscious or detached enough to mitigate the emotional impact. Stark, self-effacing tunes like "Barely Human" and "Rock Bottom, Pop. 1" combine heartfelt sentiment with Fulks' knack for killer songwriting, making a direct connection to the heart and head simultaneously. Fulks, who has already been covered by country-rock cult heroes the Five Chinese Brothers, is backed here by some fine players, including members of the celebrated roots-rock band The Skeletons, and the album moves with ease between the various sub-genres of trad country. From barroom weepers to barnstormers and western swing, Fulks' rough-and-ready vocal delivery and top-shelf tunes come across with freshness and vitality. COUNTRY LOVE SONGS is the closest a fella whose name ain't George Jones can come to making a perfect honky-tonk album. SKU: 1014109

JT
This is a multi-channel Super Audio CD Playable only on Super Audio CD players. Personnel: James Taylor (vocals, acoustic guitar); Linda Rondstadt, Carly Simon (vocals); Danny Kortchmar (guitar); Dan Dugmore (steel guitar); David Campbell (viola); David Sanborn (saxophone); Red Callender (tuba); Dr. Clarence McDonald (keyboards); Leland Sklar (bass); Russ Kunkel (drums, percussion); Peter Asher (percussion); Leah Kunkel (background vocals). JTfinds a young James Taylor using a wide variety of molds into which he pours his folksy, easy-going style. His considerable songwriting skills are in full bloom, beginning with the jubilant "Your Smiling Face." Some very different ground is explored, however, with the funky "Honey, Don't Leave L.A." and the authentic country of "Bartender's Blues," on which Taylor gets a little help from Linda Ronstadt. It's his relationship with Carly Simon, though, that provides the fuel for Taylor's trademark lighter-than-air styling on "There We Are," "Another Grey Morning" and "Terra Nova," where Simon herself contributes a fine vocal performance. Taylor's lovely "Secret O' Life" is worth the price of admission for any singer-songwriter enthusiast. Other points of interest include Taylor's cover of the Jimmy Jones hit "Handyman" and the jazzy "Traffic Jam." Besides his GREATEST HITS package, this is one of J.T.'s most definitive works. New Earth Mud (Limited Edition/+DVD)
Personnel: Chris Robinson (vocals, electric guitar); Paul Stacey (acoustic, electric & baritone guitars, piano, organ, keyboards, bass); Marc Roy (mandolin, fiddle); Kelly "Mr. Chill" Hoppe (saxophone); Matt Jones (piano, Wurlitzer piano, Fender Rhodes piano, electronic harpischord, clavinet); Gordie Johnson (stand up bass); Jeremy Stacey (drums). Recorded at Gang Studios, Paris, France in the spring of 2002. Singer-songwriter Chris Robinson, as the voice of the Black Crowes, dipped deeply into the stylistic bag of late-'60s/early-'70s British rockers like the Faces, the Rolling Stones, and Humble Pie. After the band's breakup, Robinson's first solo effort finds him returning again to that era of UK music for inspiration. This time he's in lone-gun mode, so he draws more from artists such as Chris Farlowe, Terry Reid, Frankie Miller, and Van Morrison, who mixed soul and folk-rock in an organic way. In fact, it's easy to imagine Van the Man's lawyers on the phone with Mr. Robinson after hearing the heavily Morrison-indebted "Untangle My Mind." Still, though the arrangements and production on NEW EARTH MUD hark back to a time and place not his own, the most important element, Robinson's voice, is clearly a unique instrument. Simultaneously gritty and poignant, his soulful delivery breathes life into every tune, even when the lyrics aren't quite up to snuff ("Could You Really Love Me" revisits the kind of thing that made it necessary for punk to happen). Piano, organ, and a warm mix of acoustic and electric guitars weave a friendly, approachable web of sound around that voice as well, making NEW EARTH MUD a pleasant place to hang around. SKU: 1082585

American Beauty (Expanded And Remastered)
Also available in a VHS/CD package with the video ANTHEM TO BEAUTY. Contains the hidden tracks, "Ripple"and "American Beauty Radio Spot" which follow the live version of "Truckin'." Grateful Dead: Jerry Garcia (vocals, guitar, pedal steel guitar, piano); Bob Weir (vocals, guitar); Ron "Pig Pen" McKernan (vocals, harmonica); Phil Lesh (vocals, guitar, piano, bass); Bill Kreutzmann (drums); Micky Hart (percussion). Additional personnel: Dave Nelson (electric guitar); David Grisman (mandolin); Howard Wales (piano, organ); Ned Lagin (piano); Dave Torbert (bass); New Riders Of The Purple Sage. Recorded at Wally Heider Studios, San Francisco, California. All tracks have been digitally remastered using HDCD technology. AMERICAN BEAUTY was an instant classic when it was first released November of 1970. It is among the most satisfying and enduring of the Grateful Dead's studio recordings, expanding as it does on the engaging mix of country, blues, and folk materials they first coined earlier in the year with WORKINGMAN'S DEAD. The musical vision of the Dead is more sharply focused on AMERICAN BEAUTY--from the serene reflection and compassion of the opening "Box Of Rain" and the earthy mysticism of "Ripple," to the sensual rock of "Sugar Magnolia" and the anthemic proto-boogie of the closing "Truckin'." But then, every tune on AMERICAN BEAUTY has attained a classic resonance, both from decades of steady airplay, and the way the Dead seemed to continually revive these popular standards for their concert repertoire. Also available with WORKINGMAN'S DEAD on one cassette. SKU: 1079997

Oops I Did It Again (Special UK Edition) [ECD]
Personnel includes: Britney Spears (vocals); Paul Umbach (acoustic & electric guitars, keyboards, background vocals); Larry "Rock" Campbell (guitar, bass, programming); Esborn Ohrwall, Johan Carlberg, Michael Thompson, Terry Mettam (guitar); Gloria Agostini (harp); Max Martin (keyboards, programming, background vocals); Kristian Lundin, Jake, Rami, Per Magnusson, David Kruger, Robert "Esmail" Jazayeri (keyboards, programming); Kent Wood (keyboards); Thomas Lindberg (bass); Nana Hedin, Darryl Anthony, LeDon Bishop, Jeanette Olsson, Nina Woodford, Jeanette Soderholm, Nikki Gregoroff, Anders Von Hofsten (background vocals). Producers include: Steve Lunt, Larry "Rock" Campbell, Timmy Allen, Max Martin, Rami. Engineers include: John Amatiello, Harvey Mason, Jr., Rodney Jerkins. OOPS!... I DID IT AGAIN was nominated for the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. "Oops!...I Did It Again" was nominated for the 2001Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. This second album by the former Mouseketeer turned nymphet heartthrob breaks little new ground compared to BABY ONE MORE TIME. The formula here remains, deliberately, the same: a candy-colored mix of Eurodance, hip-hop, and old-fashioned pop ballads. As before, the lyrics split the difference between "Baby, I love you so bad," as in "Can't Make You Love Me," and "Sorry, I think of you just as a friend," in the title song. There are also some genuinely amusing moments, as in the conversational finale of "Oops!" in which Britney, after being informed that her boyfriend has recovered the jewel the old lady dropped into the ocean at the end of the TITANIC movie, replies "Oh, you shouldn't have." Most of the stuff here is, of course, transparently disposable pop, but to give Spears her due, she's a far, far better singer than any of the mall-rat pop stars of the late '80s. SKU: 1047102

Foot Loose And Fancy Free [Remastered]
Personnel: Rod Stewart (vocals); Jim Cregan (guitar, background vocals); Gary Grainger, Steve Cropper, Billy Peck, Fred Tackett (guitar); John Mayall (harp); Richard Greene (violin); Phil Kenzie (horns); John Jarvis, David Foster, Nicky Hopkins (keyboards); Phil Chen (bass); Carmine Appice (drums, background vocals); Paulinho da Costa (percussion); Mark Stein (background vocals). Engineers include: Andy Johns, John Naslen, Sy Potoma. Recorded at Manta Sound Studios, Toronto, Canada and Cherokee & Wally Heider Studios, Los Angeles, California. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Kicking off with the swagger and machismo of one of the quintessential 70's anthems, "Hot Legs," FOOT LOOSE AND FANCY FREE is a blistering joyride, a swaggering period piece that, like all ofRod's best work, immerses itself in the prevalent style of the time-- by 1977, funk-tinged rock was all the rage, and FOOT LOOSE is a carnival of wah-wah guitars ("You're Insane"), epic arrangements ("You Just Keep Me Hanging On"), and unabashed earnestness (the nostalgic and confessional "I Was Only Joking.") FOOT LOOSE's greatest contribution to the Stewart canon has to be "You're In My Heart," a timely, sensitive classic that stirs in just enough breathy whimsy to its strangely down-home feel (bluegrass violins and U.K. football references not being one of your more common pairings in pop music) to create yet another milestone in Stewart's varied and timeless career. Make Yourself (Special Tour Edition)
Incubus: Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger, Jose Pasillas II, DJ Kilmore, Dirk Lance. Additional personnel: Dave Holdridge (cello); Cut Chemist. Nu-Mark (scratches). Take the apocalyptic, electronics-tinged riff-rock of bands like Korn. Subtract the fratboy sensibility and the Red Hot Chili Peppers-derived hip-hop rhythms. Add a sophisticated sense of melody and harmony, a more optimistic lyrical outlook, and a sense of dynamics. You've essentially got the Incubus sound. Incubus practices the kind of rapid intra-song mood shifts that were Nirvana's trademark, but instead of merely going from soft to loud and back, they change stylistically, switching from full-on hard rock to almost jangly, low-key alt-rock. The resultant sound should appeal to fans of both styles. The tasteful application of electronic effects updates the feel of MAKE YOURSELF nicely. There's plenty of teeth-gnashing and shrieking angst to be found in thelyrics, but there's hopefulness and pop-friendly catchiness as well. In the world of late-'90s radio rock, Incubus seems capable of being all things to all people. SKU: 1061093

Bird At The Hi-hat
Personnel: Charlie Parker (alto saxophone); Herbie Williams (trumpet); Rollins Griffith (piano); Jimmy Woode (bass); Marquis Foster (drums). Recorded live at The Hi-Hat, Boston, Massachusetts on December 18 & 20, 1953 and January 24, 1954. Originally released on Phoenix Jazz (LP 10/LP 12). Includes liner notes by Bob Porter. The truism about jazz performers who predate the LP is that even live or on radio broadcasts, they rarely exceeded the three-and-half minute mark, so bound were their sensibilities by the recording limitations of the 78. So it comes as an illuminating pleasure to have this Parker recording, a collection of live broadcasts from Boston's Hi-Hat club recorded in late 1953 and early 1954 with a group of Boston sidemen. Bird blows through a handful of familiar tunes, mostly standards he helped to create, and between stretching out himself and being generous with the band, most cuts clock in between six and eight minutes. Just as wonderful is the fact that thesound quality is better than a lot of reissued Parker. Unlike, say, some of the Savoy/Denon CDs, LIVE AT THE HI-HAT isn't just for people who will cling to any available scrap of Bird's alto; the fidelity is decent (although it does fade or cut out now and then), with piano, bass and drums coming through quite clearly (you can even hear the bass solo on "Ornithology"!). Note: Symphony Sid's introductions and announcements from the original broadcast are included as well. SKU: 1082075

Presence [Remastered]
Led Zeppelin: Robert Plant (vocals, harmonica); Jimmy Page (electric & acoustic guitars, background vocals); John PaulJones (bass, keyboards, background vocals); John Bonham (drums). Recorded at Musicland Studios, Munich, West Germany. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Led Zeppelin's seventh album, PRESENCE, is a straight-ahead rocker, that has much more of a "live" feel than some of their previous recordings. Gone are most of the big production flourishes, and in their place the big power trio + vocals sound that made Led Zeppelin such a popular concert band. The opening "Achilles Last Stand" is a driving, up-tempo rocker, while the closing "Tea For One" is a slow, Chicago-style blues, featuring Plant's moaning vocals and Page's alternatingly sweet, and frenetic solos. Elsewhere, "Royal Orleans" mixes delta blues with Indian music, "Hots On For Nowhere" is a stop-time boogie, and "Candy Store Rock" is heavy metal rockabilly. SKU: 3100135

Heathen [SACD]
This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Personnel includes: David Bowie (vocals, guitar, saxophone, keyboards, stylophone, drums); Kristeen Young (vocals, piano); Tony Visconti (guitar, recorder, bass, background vocals); Mark Plati (guitar, bass); David Torn (guitar, omnichord, loops); Pete Townshend, Dave Grohl, Carlos Alomar, Gerry Leonard (guitar); Lisa Germano (violin); Jordan Ruddess (keyboards); Tony Levin (bass); Matt Chamberlain (drums, percussion, programming); Sterling Campbell (drums, percussion). The Scorchio Quartet: Greg Kitzis, Meg Okura (violin); Martha Mooke (viola); Mary Wooten (cello). The Borneo Horns: Lenny Pickett, Stan Harrison, Steve Elson. Recorded at Allaire Studios, Shokan, New York and Looking Glass Stuidos, New York, New York. "Slow Burn" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. There's more than a hint of things turning full circle in the 21st century's first original David Bowie full- length album. On HEATHEN, Bowie not only reunites with co-producer Tony Visconti, but within the first 15 minutes references his '70s hit "Heroes" in the suitably smoldering "Slow Burn," and turns around late co-conspirator John Lennon's "God" in "Afraid" ("I believe in Beatles"). Bowie wisely gives himself the space to toy with old R&B rhythms and weighty, pre-punk guitar riffs, juxtaposing Bjork-like string sections with looped rock drums and hissing synth backgrounds on "I Would Be Your Slave," while coyly harking back to his Ziggy Stardust persona on "I Took a Trip on a Gemini Spaceship." "A Better Future" features a chirpy '60s arrangement underlying the sort of fallout-saturated pop ditty that might one day become a favorite of the protagonists of "Drive-in Saturday." As you might expect from a Bowie/Visconti collaboration, the production is both high-tech and down-and-dirty--one minute all overloaded mics and booming drums, the next all chiming synths and breathy backing vocals. Featuring smartly chosen guestsPete Townshend and Dave Grohl, HEATHEN is a righteous return to form from an erratic but consistently intriguing pop master. SKU: 1073441

EC Was Here
On the original LP, the song "Drifting Blues" faded out after about 3 minutes. The CD contains the complete 11:31 version. Personnel: Eric Clapton (vocals, guitar); Yvonne Elliman (vocals); George Terry (guitar); Dick Sims (organ); Carl Radle (bass); Jamie Oldaker (drums); Marcy Levy (tambourine). Engineers include: Wally Heider, Ed Barton, Brian Engolds. All tracks have been digitally remastered. Released in the same year as 1975's THERE'S ONE IN EVERY CROWD, E.C. WAS HERE is a live album short on content but long in presentation. Backed by his usual mid-70's studio cohorts (George Terry, Jamie Oldaker, Yvonne Elliman, Marcy Levy, etc.), Clapton ignored his then-current material off CROWD and 461 OCEAN BOULEVARD, instead choosing to explore his immediate, post-Cream era along with some extended, old favorites. "Presence Of The Lord" and "Can't Find My Way Home" were retrieved from Blind Faith's sole album and both are infused with a subtle, spiritual feeling of someone who's emerged from a long period of sorrow. The remainder of this live document of mysterious origin features Clapton finding his way through material byRobert Johnson ("Ramblin' On My Mind) and Charles Brown ("Driftin' Blues") using a laconic drawl and a quietly effective style of playing that his 70's work became known for. Of particular note is a rousing version of "Further On Up The Road," which quickly became a Clapton live staple for the remainder of the 70's. SKU: 1003185
